Admission Rules

Applications for admission into the French School of Riga (EFR) require respect of the current laws in force in the French settlements abroad, be they educational, linguistic or cultural, as well as the relevant legislation of the Republic of Latvia. In the educational field, the official instructions from the French and Republic of Latvia legislation or bilateral agreements prevail over any other.

Note: In the French system, there is a huge difference between a kindergarten and a school: in a day care center, children are socialized and supervised; in a school, they are learning and regular attendance is essential. For this reason there are many differences in the regulations for a child of two years old and a student of five years old. Students should not be absent from school without good reason. Exceptional cases can be discussed, such as part time attendance (for a full time fee) but only for younger children and on a regular basis.
